Forum for Women’s  Advancement and Development

FOWAD was registered on July 25th 2006, as an Association with registered No 737/G.37/D.14/1/Vol10/T/BAPP in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization. It is a non-profit; non-governmental community-based organization operating in the South West Region of Cameroon with Head office at Molyko, Buea.

 Since its formation in 2006 FOWAD has carried out various programmes for the promotion of gender mainstreaming, in the society. Its core activities include  Women Reproductive Health and Rights, Women and Widows’ Rights, Promotion of Girl Child Education, Women and Community Empowerment through micro projects implementation,  Women groups/organizational development.

In the recent past has been involved in community sensitization prevalence and prevention of COVID 19, humanitarian and reconstruction activities in the South West Region

ACTIVITIES

  • Organized training for women in the area of, agriculture, small enterprise development and political empowerment.
  • Carried out Adult Literacy classes in Fako and Lebialem Divisions
  • Organized Gender and HIV /AIDS mainstreaming workshops in local communities
  • Facilitated self help and income generting  activities for grassroots women
  • Organised training workshops on and management for women groups
  • Carried out Participatory Rural appraisal in various communitiesin Meme and Lebialem Divisions.


TARGET

FOWAD  targets women and youths and organisations involved in the promotion of gender equality.

 

WORKING METHOD

 FOWAD uses the participatory working approach to execute its activities throughout the project management cycle.

Participation at all levels is enhanced for the purpose of ensuring ownership by the marginalized and vulnerable groups for a more sustainable development.
